Bone Flower Queen Update

Posted on:

the-bone-flower-throne-displaySo in a week we come to the one year anniversary of the release of The Bone Flower Throne and you might be wondering why you haven’t heard any release dates for The Bone Flower Queen. My editor has given me a tentative release date, but given how much is still left to be done, I’m not comfortable telling you that date yet. Suffice it to say that you can’t expect to see the next book until the end of the year, probably even the beginning of next year. As a small press, Panverse is pretty much a one-man operation, which invariably leads to unexpected delays; I also turned in this manuscript about six months later than I turned in the first one, so some of that delay rests on my shoulders. But we want this book to be the best it can be, so we’re not in any hurry to rush through to get it out at the cost of quality. But rest assured that The Bone Flower Queen will come out, as will the final book in the trilogy (which I’m currently working on).

I do hope to have some news to report in the next couple of weeks, perhaps even a cover reveal, but as for now, we’re in a holding pattern. In the meantime, you can sign up for my newsletter, so you will receive an email when The Bone Flower Queen becomes available for purchase. I promise never to sell your email or use it for anything other than the newsletter (which I only send out once in a blue moon).

Panverse Online Store Now Open

Posted on:

My publisher has opened their online store for ebook sales, so you can now purchase The Bone Flower Throne directly from them. The price is the same as at other online retailers, but there are several good reasons to buy directly from Panverse.

First, for the price of a single book from any of the other retailers, you get both the mobi and the epub format. So whether you use a Kindle or a Nook, or both, you’re set!

Secondly, when you buy directly from the publisher, we authors make more money per sale thanks to no middle-man taking a cut.

More choices are a great thing!

The Year in Review and Resolutions

Posted on:

So last year proved a most exciting year on the writing front. I sold my first novel in January and saw it hit bookshelves by mid October. My first royalty check is due sometime this month, so we’ll see how well it’s done on the selling front.

I’m a little less than halfway through the first draft of the next book in the series, but other than that, I did finish multiple drafts of an alternate history romance novel. I did query a couple of agents but had zero interest–as usual, I suspect that I’m writing stuff that traditional publishing finds unmarketable, so I just might decide to either go small press again, or even consider self-publishing it once I get a final draft done. I did submit to a couple contests and got some feedback, so there is some work to do on it before it’s truly ready for world. There’s no rush though.

On the reading front, I did really pathetic; I read a total of nine books last year, which is just unacceptable, so I’m aiming for more this year. I’m no longer going to put reading on hold while I write and will instead try to read at least an hour a day, before bed. I would like to clear out all the books languishing on my current reading list on Goodreads and start reading some stuff on my wishlist. I think reading more will also help me stay creative on the writing side, since it seemed that I really struggled with getting progress made later in the year when I wasn’t actually reading anything. This year has started off strong though, and I’ve already plowed through two books I had started last year (or, in one case, two years ago) and marked off two on my goal of 15. If the reading is going well, I just might increase that goal, but for now I’m aiming to be reading with more regularity than I did last year.

Ebooks Available and Eating Authors

Posted on:

So, over the weekend, the ebook versions of The Bone Flower Throne became available on both Amazon and Smashwords. You can purchase them for the low price of $5.99!

And today, over at Lawrence Schoen’s blog, I talk a bit about a memorable meal me and my family shared in San Antonio this last summer, as part of his feature called Eating Authors. Be sure to go check it out, so you can find out why the River Walk posts signs all over the place warning you not to feed the pigeons.

Bone Flower Throne Now Available for Pre-Order

The Bone Flower Throne - cover 8-16You can now pre-order The Bone Flower Throne in paperback on Amazon. Copies will start shipping October 7th, with the ebook version becoming available for immediate download around the same time, or a few days later.

Right now the product description is a little messed up, but hopefully Ingram will fix the errors soon. Pre-orders are important for any new book, so if you were planning to buy a copy anyway, I hope you’ll consider pre-ordering it now.
